Slack Apps have exploded in popular with the introduction of Slack’s new App Store. In this talk, I will walk you through the process that I went through while building a Slack weather bot, Forecast, from scratch using Express, Slack’s OAuth API, as well as Slack’s RTM API. I will go in-depth into architectural decisions that I made to create a Slack app that has simple one-click install, communicates with darksky.net, as well as the process for submitting and app of this nature to the Slack App Store. We will go over lessons learned, why I chose to not go with an establish “Slack Bot Framework,” and how you too can make a simple slack bot in less than 100 lines of code!
This video shows you how to send messages to a slack channel from your .NET C# code. I created a NuGet Package and shared the code in a NuGet repository. Here are the links: Github https://github.com/prjseal/SlackBotMessages NuGet https://www.nuget.org/packages/SlackBotMessages

ClubPython is a Slack Group full of Python learners, both students and teachers. This series will cover building a set of tools to support our Slack Community. We will be building a SlackBot and a Website (using Django) from scratch. Members of the community will all contribute to each project, but the series will attempt to cover as much of the process as possible. If this sounds cool, you can join our Slack Channel, for now just PM me, I'll add links soon. IN THIS VIDEO: We create a brand new python project from scratch (On Windows) First, we walk through the steps of creating a Virtualenv, installing requirements, creating requirements.txt file, creating a git repo, and uploading to github. Then we follow a Tutorial for setting up a SlackBot from scratch and create a couple (very basic) commands. During this process, I cover a few debugging techniques and show you how to inspect objects using pdb.set_trace(), dir() and vars() Finally, we push our final product to github! You can find the github repo here: https://github.com/whieronymus/slackbot-test And the tutorial we followed here: https://www.fullstackpython.com/blog/build-first-slack-bot-python.html Feel free to reach out to me with anything questions you have!
Andrey shows us how to create a Slack Bot. In the talk he will show us how he developed one for displaying code snippets for files hosted on Beanstalk. This great talk was held by Andrey Okonetchnikov at the monthly ViennaJS meetup in Vienna: http://viennajs.org
