How to Make an Aquaman Costume: Armor

How to Make an Aquaman Costume: Armor

Part 3 of how to make an Aquaman costume is the shoulder armor. This is made out of craft foam, but you could also cover the foam in a layer of Wonderflex, as I did in the bracers tutorial, if you want it to be a bit stronger. The belts I got for a buck apiece at the Salvation Army, so check your local 2nd hand stores. When you're shaping your warm foam, you'll want to hold it in place until it's cool, so it keeps its shape. Then give it 3 coats of white glue to make the shape even stronger. DIY Aquaman Trident - Cheap and Easy

DIY Aquaman Trident - Cheap and Easy

A bright and shiny DIY Aquaman trident is fairy cheap and easy to make. I was able to make this one for around $25. I had a bunch of requests for this, and it was also my brother's Halloween costume this year, so it's one that I conveniently already had filmed. This DIY Aquaman trident is based on the one wielded by Jason Momoa in the Justice League movie, because it looked really cool, even though it technically isn't a trident anymore due to the 5 prongs. I used a piece of PVC pipe to make the handle for added strength, but if you're making it for a child where it doesn't have to be as long, you could also use several wrapping paper rolls stuffed inside of each other instead. The gold adhesive foil is that stuff that goes in the Cricut machines (same stuff I used for Harley Quinn's jewelry). You can usually find it in places like Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics, or Amazon also carries it. Hot glue absolutely does not work on this stuff, so when gluing anything to the foil, the only stuff I found that would work (without requiring a hazmat suit to use it at least) was some glue by Beacon called power-tac. There are probably others will work too, but many don't, so test your glues first to make sure they will hold. For part 2 of the Aquaman costume, the bracers, visit: https://youtu.be/06OxKswcX2M For part 3 of the Aquaman costume, the shoulder armor, visit: https://youtu.be/_nue_E4ssv8 MATERIALS NEEDED: Piece of PVC pipe about the height of your chin 3 pieces of 2x2 foot cardboard 1 sheet of 3mm craft foam 2 rolls of gold adhesive foil (Amazon link: http://amzn.to/2n6gv0W) Power-tac or other strong adhesive (Amazon link: http://amzn.to/2ixOyvy) Scissors Metallic gold paint and brush Hope you enjoy this video. DIY Aquaman Costume Bracers

DIY Aquaman Costume Bracers

You can make some fairly easy bracers for your DIY Aquaman costume out of plain old craft foam or you can cover it with Wonderflex for added strength. I don't use a lot of Wonderflex in my costumes, due to the price, but this was one I was doing for a client, so I wanted it to be strong and last. The Wonderflex definitely makes it stronger. However, if you're just using craft foam, you'll want to hot glue on all the pieces and make sure to coat both sides with white glue to keep it strong. Aquaman Costume Tutorial Part 4: Boots and Belt

Aquaman Costume Tutorial Part 4: Boots and Belt

So the boots and the belt comprise part 4 of the Aquaman costume tutorial. The bases for both the boots and the belt came from the Salvation Army for a few dollars, so check your local 2nd hand shops (it makes your costume more eco-friendly too). I just used some Krylon metallic gold for the boots, and it seemed to stick to them fine with out flaking.
